Many individuals are neither competent nor, in many cases, willing to make complex DC investment decisions themselves, but getting it right can have a significant impact on their retirement income.
To address this, XPT seeks to engage with members to educate them on the various risks (inflation, interest, capital, and annuity) that they face, with the objective of implementing an investment structure appropriate for them individually.
For members who only wish to make limited investment decisions, XPT’s risk modeller will help them identify which, of a core range of multi-asset lifestyle strategies, is appropriate for them individually. Depending on their risk profile, different growth assets and phasing structures will be employed.
These blended strategies contain several different asset classes and return drivers, which minimise volatility for given levels of targeted investment returns. The principle here is that sophisticated and innovative investment structures are available to members that appear simplistic, but are not simple. For the more investment aware, a range of self select investment options are also available.
The Trustee continually monitors and amends the asset allocations and underling managers of all of the investment options, replacing them where appropriate.
At retirement, XPT assists members to decide what form of benefits is appropriate for them. If an annuity is to be purchased, the retirement service will assist the member in selecting the most appropriate type of policy and achieve the most competitive terms available.
This approach to investments assists members to make informed decisions, allowing them to take as many (or as few) investment decisions as they feel comfortable.
