Pensions: Deal Breaker or Deal Maker?

28 June,  9am- 11am
Breakfast seminar, London

The impact of the recession and recent economic turmoil has led to a further increase in pension scheme deficits. Legislation and guidance from the Pensions Regulator has placed increasing power in the hands of trustees of final salary pension schemes, with the funding and financial risks falling almost entirely upon sponsoring employers.

This seminar will help those looking to buy or sell a company understand and quantify pension scheme risks and how they can be controlled throughout ownership; turning pensions from the deal breaker to the deal maker.

Key questions to be addressed include:

  • What are the key levers underpinning the financial dynamics of schemes and how can we monitor and influence them?
  • What actions can sensibly be taken to control, reduce, mitigate or remove risk?
  • What level of risk are companies carrying as a consequence of their trustees’ current investment strategy?
  • How realistic are current funding assumptions and what risks do they bring?
  • What are the crucial areas in which sponsoring employers should exert control and how is this best achieved?
