History

Hazell Carr was founded in 1997 by Graham Hazell, David Carr and John Edwards in response to a national regulated complaint crisis which affected many major UK companies.

Many of these companies had difficulty developing a sufficiently robust function to process customer complaints within the prescribed framework. For a number of these companies, this type of operation simply lay outside their core activities, and they had little appetite to build infrastructure and devote internal management resources in this area. We quickly developed a robust and efficient complaint handling service and have since forged an outstanding reputation for the provision of complaints and customer service solutions. We have continued to develop this expertise, enhancing our infrastructure and broadening our product range.

In the Sunday Times PricewaterhouseCoopers 2001 Profit-Track survey, Hazell Carr was listed as the fastest growing UK unquoted company. It was also listed in The Sunday Times Virgin Atlantic Fast Track survey for annual sales growth. David Carr was voted South Region Entrepreneur of the Year 2003 in Ernst & Young's Entrepreneur of the Year awards.

There were three key elements of Hazell Carr's initial success. We used numerate, intelligent people. We developed and followed excellent processes, supported by robust training and procedures and purpose-built systems. This enabled us to review many thousands of customer pension cases. We have further developed and strengthened these elements that underpinned our original success. Hazell Carr today prides itself on being a premier expert in People and Processes.

In 2008, Hazell Carr was acquired by the Xafinity group, bringing together two respected brands with strong track records in service delivery and innovation. Hazell Carr is now part of a combined Xafinity group, which has over 1500 employees and a network of offices to support clients across the UK.

Hazell Carr brings to Xafinity a range of skills and innovative service offerings to complement Xafinity’s own proposition. Our clients now also benefit from new services of value in areas such as flexible benefits and rewards management, investment consulting, professional trustee services and bespoke training.
