Director
Mark graduated in 1983 with a Science/Maths degree and completed a preparatory course at the University of Kent, Canterbury for a Masters degree in Maths. Mark has over 25 years of experience in working with companies and trustees on all aspects of pension management.
Having left university, Mark immediately joined a specialist pensions company, London & Manchester (Pensions) Limited in 1984 as a pensions consultant. He completed his specialist training, worked in the sales/marketing team and later assumed management responsibilities for the midlands operation.
In 1988 Mark joined Noble Lowndes & Partners and established himself as one of the most experienced consultants in the Midlands team. He benefited from advising a wide range of clients as a trusted adviser. Mark was also a professional trustee and represented Lowndes Associated Pensions Limited. Mark had a key role in the setting-up of the new Solihull office and was on the regional management team.
In 1996 Mark joined Aon Consulting as a senior pension consultant in their flagship team based in Farnborough, Hampshire. He assumed responsibility for a substantial portfolio of clients and duly took responsibility for numerous projects linked to the latest Pension Act. Other business related challenges including the introduction of quality control procedures and the technical reviews of consultants.
Whilst Mark was at Noble Lowndes & Partners and Aon Consulting he worked as a trusted adviser with some well known clients including Amnesty International, Rospa, Trans European Airways, The Moormans, Wang, GAN Insurance, Danish Bacon, Whyte & MacKay, Bemrose Corporation, Thames Power and the Diocese of Rochester.
Mark pioneered many of the now proven methodologies for the switching from defined benefit to defined contribution schemes. He led a team of pension professionals who were responsible for a substantial DB/DC project for Manganese Bronze, the black taxi firm, in the early 90’s.
Mark joined HR Trustees in 2000 as a trustee director and has responsibility for primarily ongoing trusteeships. His appointments include The Royal British Legion, Panasonic, DHL, Travelsphere, Artemis, Roadchef and Brintons Carpets. Mark has a proven expertise and first hand experience in managing corporate transactions, scheme closures, ETV exercises, buy-out strategies, covenant reviews, scheme specific valuations and investment strategy reviews.
Mark has also been appointed by Panasonic, DHL, CBS & the Transtec Group as the Independent Trustee responsible for winding-up legacy schemes.
