Mark graduated in 1983 with a Science/Maths degree. Mark is a long established pensions professional with almost 30 years experience of working with companies and trustees on all aspects of pension management.
Mark joined a specialist pensions company, London & Manchester (Pensions) Limited in 1984 as a pensions consultant. He completed his specialist pension consultancy training and assumed client and management responsibilities for the Company’s midlands operation.
In 1988 Mark joined a leading pension consultancy firm, Noble Lowndes & Partners and established himself as one of the most experienced pension consultants in the Midlands team. Mark also had a portfolio of professional trustee appointments.
In 1996 Mark joined Aon Consulting as a senior pension consultant and assumed responsibility for a substantial portfolio of clients and numerous projects linked to the latest Pension Act. Other business related challenges including the introduction of quality control procedures and the technical reviews of other pension consultants.
Mark has been responsible for delivering pensions consulting advice to some well known clients including Amnesty International, Rospa, Trans European Airways, The Moormans, Wang, GAN Insurance, Danish Bacon, Whyte & MacKay, Bemrose Corporation, Thames Power, Maclaren and the Diocese of Rochester.
Mark also has considerable Defined Contribution experience and pioneered many of the now proven methodologies for the switching from DB to DC schemes. He led a team of pension professionals who were responsible for a substantial DB/DC project for Manganese Bronze, the black taxi firm, in the early 90’s.
Mark has been a Trustee Director at HR Trustees for over 12 years and has tendered successfully for numerous appointments including The Royal British Legion, Panasonic, DHL, Travelsphere, Artemis, Carl Zeiss Vision UK, Roadchef and Brintons Carpets. Over the years, Mark has developed a proven expertise in managing scheme valuations, covenant assessments and investment strategy reviews (including approaches to de-risking), corporate transactions and scheme closures. Mark also has considerable experience of liability reduction strategies including PIE & ETV exercises and developing end game strategies.
