Director
Colin has over 29 years of experience working in the pensions industry and has worked full time as a trustee since 1993.
Over the last 15 years Colin has worked on a wide range of schemes from small defined contribution schemes to medium sized defined benefits schemes-some in surplus, others in deficit. Colin specialises in Exit Management and additionally his work has included the recovery of assets from third parties, negotiating claims without the need for court action and clarifying the scheme’s equalisation liabilities.
Colin has been an adviser with TPAS for over 20 years and was on the lay trustee panel of OPRA. The experience from this voluntary work is useful when handling contentious issues with members. The experience of handling complaints from members has also established an understanding of how members and MNTs view schemes and the promises made.
He has practical experience of Chairing boards of trustees, with some going back 10 years. Colin has also worked along side co-trustees and MNTs, bringing a sense of comfort to complex proceedings, particularly up to and during the winding up process. In recent times he has successfully completed clearance negotiations with the Pensions Regulator, wound up a scheme of a Japanese employer on exit from the UK and is negotiating with sponsors on scheme specific funding arrangements.
In recent times Colin managed the Employee Benefit Trusts that facilitated the payment of benefits to key employees during the insolvency of TXU (the Texas energy giant), and subsequent sell off to Powergen. Current appointments include the Dresdner Kleinwort Healthcare Trust and the Wembley Pension Scheme.
